An award winning village local in the heart of unspoilt South Downs National Park countryside renowned for its outstanding atmosphere, great food, well kept ales, long and varied wine list and charming staff. Stylishly refurbished, spacious and light and with vast gardens and terraces adorned with teak tables and parasols, this is a pub for all seasons and all occasions.
At The Rising Sun, the ethos in the kitchens is to let the ingredients do the talking. Their chefs keep things blissfully simple, knowing that great dishes are easy to come by when you’re using the very best produce.
Virtually everything there is homemade on the premises, with fresh ingredients sourced from local independent producers and suppliers. Fresh fish and seafood is delivered every day from the south coast, their beautiful British beef heralds from a trusted local farm, game comes from Milland valley and their fruit and vegetables are either grown in the village or come from the Sussex countryside.
The freshness of the ingredients makes for ever-evolving menus that change with the seasons. Usually though, you can expect to find a bar menu packed with comforting classics (including fish and chips and tender steaks), healthy salads and veggie dishes, alongside a blackboard menu reflecting fine cuts of meat and game and fresh seafood.
There’s a special children’s menu too, plus two great weekday offers (Ladies ‘wot’ Lunch & Early Bird) – helping to make The Rising Sun one of the best-value places to eat in The South Downs.
Available Monday - Thursday (excluding bank holidays). Can be used with the lunch and dinner menu. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. The Mustcard terms and conditions apply.

"I took my son and his family to celebrate my son's birthday. Ages of the group were from 9 to 70, and we all enjoyed the cozy ambiance, the fine food and attentive service. We were returning because of a similar experience celebrating the same birthday, a year earlier. I hope we can all return next year!"I Drum
We came to the Rising Sun, aka ‘The riser’, last Saturday night and had another fantastic meal. We've eaten midweek lunches and dinners, Sunday lunch and now Saturday night and I can’t fault it, it¹s always been excellent. They’ve hit the mark with the menu, a solid range of tastes and crafted plates so neither the prices or menu are daunting. The ambiance is chilled and informal yet efficient and the staff know what they are doing. All this said, it¹s still a proper pub with drinkers at the long bar, group tables and chairs, games and the papers in front of an open fire. It can get busy so I advise booking on weekends.Rob E
"Just visited The Rising Sun for Sunday Lunch with my husband and his mum. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Asked for a small portion of the roast chicken for mum as she is nearly 90 and has a small appetite. They were happy to do a child’s portion for her (which some restaurants won’t do and food gets wasted). I had roast pork and my husband had beef which he likes rare and this was perfect (option to have more well done if required). Extra gravy too!"Lynn Edy

"Such a fantastic scheme. As a business we have an offer on with the Mustcard which has given us a platform to reach more local customers. But more than that I have been personally using my card to shop locally in Haslemere and Midhurst. Some of the discounts are brilliant. The best part for me is the fabulous write ups on local shops and pubs that I otherwise would not have known about! We have visited so many new places because of the Mustcard, it has opened up our local area. I love scrolling through the business listings and exploring all the new places! Supporting the local independents, what could be better than that! Thank you Mustcard."May and Grace Bridal, Haslemere

In today’s fast changing world the things we value are shifting equally as fast. The move away from chain style shops and departments stores to online ordering for example. Within this the Independent shops have become the marker, not only for defining our towns, by giving them identity and individuality, but by increasing the sense of community. Supporting Independent small and family businesses keeps our towns alive. The Mustcard is a superb, affordable way for us to say ‘YES, we are in. YES we value and support our town’s individuality, it’s personality and it’s people’. The additional twist is that, in so doing, these amazing shops and their owners reward Mustcard Members with special discounts!! It’s a true win win!My Midhurst Life
